9K, 14K & 18K Solid Gold

Our ceremonial and fine jewellery is ethically hand-crafted using recycled and responsibly sourced 9K, 14K and 18K solid gold. We use gold that has been accredited by the RJC for social and environmental responsibility.

Our fine jewellery is delicate and requires care to maintain its longevity.

How to take care of solid gold jewellery

Please take care to prevent contact with abrasive surfaces or harsh chemicals.

Remove your jewellery when applying skincare, perfumes and hair products.

Store in a cool dry place.

To prevent scratches and tangled chains we recommend storing jewellery separately.

To clean your fine jewellery, scrub lightly with a soft-bristled brush, warm water and mild detergent-free soap.

After cleaning, gently polish with the cloth provided to restore shine. Please be mindful of stone settings that can catch on loose fibres.

Periodically check your gold jewellery for signs of wear and tear, such as loose settings or clasps.

22K & 24K Solid Gold

Gold jewellery with a purity of 22 karats (91.6% pure gold) and 24 karats (99.9% pure gold) is highly prized for its luxurious lustre and rich colour. However, this high purity also makes the gold inherently malleable and susceptible to being pressed out of shape.

Slight moulding to the shape of your body is to be expected and is considered normal for 22K and 24K gold jewellery. This does not constitute a fault.

Always handle your jewellery with the utmost care.

Avoid applying force or pressure, as high-purity gold can easily bend or warp.

Remove your jewellery during physical activities such as sports, gardening, or heavy lifting to prevent accidental damage or deformation.

Gold Vermeil

Our gold vermeil is a 2.5 micron overlay of 18K gold on a base of ethical 925 sterling silver. Gold vermeil jewellery will fade naturally over time, acquiring a patina that adds character to the piece. For those that prefer the original lustre of the gold vermeil we do offer a re-plating service.

Earrings

Hoops

Please note that some of our earrings are very fragile especially our hoops, therefore we ask you to handle with the utmost care when take the earrings off and on. If the earring loses its tension, you can adjust this by opening the hoop up slightly so once you place it back in your ear it will sit with a tighter fit. Please email support@templeofthesun.com.au if you have any questions.

Butterfly backs

If your butterfly back is misplaced, we recommend purchasing another set from a jeweller or online. Temple of the Sun earrings use 6mm butterfly backs, please ensure you purchase the correct size.

Sleeper

Please ensure the clasps are clicking into place, you can do so by gently pressing the earrings together. Applying too much pressure could lead to damaging the earrings.

Necklaces

Fine Chains

We use a variety of chains, some more fragile than others. Please take care of your chain by storing separately to avoid tangling and remove your necklace prior to changing clothes as this can cause the links to stretch. Temple of the Sun cannot honour the warranty for chain necklaces that have been damaged due to stretching or incorrect storage.

Woven Chains

Forever inspired by the techniques of ancient artisans, Temple of the Sun uses a range of woven chains. These intricate chains are as delicate as they are beautiful. Please always store with the chain laid flat or hanging to prevent damage.

Rings

Gold Vermeil Plating

Temple of the Sun rings are some of our favourite pieces, and being on our hands exposes them to the most wear and tear.To ensure the gold lustre remains golden and bright it is important to remove your rings each time we hand sanitise, apply makeup, cosmetics, shower, swim and even cook.Gold vermeil, like all non-solid gold, is designed to fade over time so our beloved rings need the most attention and care out of all.

Ceremonial and Fine Jewellery

Ceremonial and fine jewellery is delicate and requires extra care.

All metals will tarnish over time, but it will happen much faster if they have contact with agents such as perfume, salty air, sulphur, skin creams, hairspray, chlorine and acidic skin pH. The amount of tarnishing (oxidation) that occurs depends on your skin and jewellery care habits. Please follow the care instructions under "solid gold" to correctly care for your solid gold jewellery and maintain its longevity.

Please don't wear your ring during activities you will vigorously use your hands such as sport, exercising or cooking as this may damage the metal or gemstones. If you notice your stone has become loose, please stop wearing your ring immediately and get in touch with our customer care team.

Cleaning and household

With gold vermeil jewellery, particularly rings, it is best to avoid all chemicals as they can cause the vermeil to tarnish. We recommend taking off all rings before cleaning and gardening to avoid any damage.

Cuffs

Opening & Closing

For every day wear we ask that you are very mindful not to open and close the cuff too much as this will create a weak spot in the middle of the band which can lead to breakage. Sterling Silver is a soft and malleable metal, so we suggest finding the right proportion for your wrist and leaving the cuff at that size.
